Colton Anastasio
Colton was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis through his newborn screening and sweat test. He is now 8 years old and he is an amazing kid – curious, kind and full of life. Colton lives with his mom, Megan, his dad, Cody, sister, Kaylee, and brother, Cade in the Kansas City area. He loves learning about history and science, spending time with friends, and making everyone around him laugh. For the first two years of Colton’s life, clinic visits were a monthly routine. He had one hospital stay at just one year old – a long and emotional two weeks for his whole family – but thankfully he has remained strong and healthy ever since. His biggest challenge came later with learning how to swallow his enzymes, which he mastered at age seven. Blood draws were another tricky thing, and still can be to this day, but each time he gets braver. One of the greatest blessings in his family’s journey has been the support of other CF families. In the beginning, Megan leaned heavily on other moms who had been through it all before. Now, as Colton grows older, Megan has found herself becoming that person for others – offering the same reassurance and hope that once carried her through. Great Strides is one of Colton’s favorite traditions. He proudly calls it, “his walk”. Colton and his team, Double The Fight, have participated in the Kansas City Great Strides Walk every year since he was six months old. As Megan says, “Because Colton’s story is still being written – we’ll do everything we can to make sure it’s a long and beautiful one.”Step Up Your Fundraising
