CF Cycle for Life + Columbia/Willamette Great Strides One Big Community Celebration to Close Out CF Awareness Month
Welcome-we're so glad you're here! Get ready for a double dose of impact as CF Cycle for Life and Columbia/Willamette Great Strides come together for the first time ever to create one giant, tropical-themed celebration for our community. With sunnier days ahead, this special event brings powerful purpose, island vibes, and hope for a future where everyone can breathe easier.
Saturday, May 30 | University of Portland
The fun, safe, recreational CF Cycle for Life ride starts at 2:00 PM and both begins and ends on the beautiful campus of the University of Portland. Riders will enjoy a scenic route covering approximately 20 bike-friendly streets throughout North Portland, designed for a welcoming and enjoyable experience for cyclists of all levels.
A few hours later, Columbia/Willamette Great Strides will kick off on campus. Cyclists and walkers will finish around the same time, coming together to close out the day with one shared celebration.
What to Expect:
  • A family-friendly, community-wide event for riders, walkers, and supporters
  • Live music and activities for kids and adults
  • New this year: a beer garden plus fun, refreshing non-alcoholic drinks
  • A tropical theme that brings the sunshine-because brighter days are ahead!

About the Event

CF Cycle for Life is our signature cycling event that powers lifesaving research and care. Every mile pedaled helps accelerate progress toward a cure for cystic fibrosis.
Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest national fundraising event, bringing families, friends, and advocates together to take steps toward better treatments-and ultimately, a cure.
Together, these two events create a powerful, inclusive way to close out Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month-with community, celebration, and momentum.

Meet our 2026 Local Ambassador!

Michael Wright

Michael Wright

Michael has been on a mission to help end cystic fibrosis since 2014. He and his family are heartbroken after two of his great nieces lost their battles with CF over a decade ago. His main fundraising vehicle is Cycle For Life, however this year, since we are combining Great Strides, Cycle For Life and a 5K run, Michael will attempt the trifecta and participate in all three. Michael is a rewired (not a typo) sports agent who plays just about every sport that fosters healthy competition. He and his wife Sally are Canadians who have been living in the USA since 1995. His fundraising slogan is - WE'RE not done, until IT'S done.
Ellie Michels

Ellie Michels

Ellie is a 9-year-old living with cystic fibrosis. She suffered from meconium ileus at birth and then her newborn screening confirmed her CF diagnosis. Ellie has to do breathing treatments as well as take around 33 pills per day just to try to stay healthy. Outside of her CF diagnosis, Ellie is an older sister and loves to play volleyball, hike, fish, hunt, camp and do all kinds of other outdoor activities. Ellie has tons of friends and family who all love and support her.
