My Breathe Team Story
Fundraising for 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon
Camden Wright
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
Our Story
Robbie Kenneth Wright was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis during his 20-week anatomy scan in 2024, along with a severe complication known as Meconium Ileus which is an early indicator of the challenges often associated with CF. What followed was a period filled with uncertainty, but also with extraordinary medical care and emerging innovation.
During pregnancy, our family worked closely with the Maternal-Fetal Medicine team at Lurie Children’s Hospital and participated in a clinical study involving Trikafta. This treatment, still being explored in utero, offered a rare opportunity to intervene earlier than ever before.
In the weeks that followed, we witnessed something remarkable. Robbie’s meconium blockage gradually resolved to a normal level—an outcome that would not have been possible without the combination of advanced research, dedicated physicians, and a willingness to pursue new possibilities.
Robbie was born on December 4, 2024, and since that day, he has brought immeasurable joy and perspective into our lives. Now, one year old, he is thriving; full of energy, personality, and the kind of resilience that continues to inspire us daily.
Our experience has shown us firsthand the profound impact that research, innovation, and access to care can have - not only on outcomes, but on hope of finding a cure. In an effort to give back and help accelerate progress for other families facing the overwhelming change that Cystic Fibrosis bring to families, we are proud to be fundraising and participating in the 2026 Chicago Marathon.
